Dynamic inversion of planar-chiral response of terahertz metasurface based on critical transition of checkerboard structures

Abstract Dynamic inversion of the planar-chiral responses a metasurface is experimentally demonstrated in terahertz regime. To realize this inversion, critical transition checkerboard-like metallic structures used. Resonant with planar chirality and their complementary enantiomeric patterns are embedded checkerboard. Using vanadium dioxide as variable resistance, implemented The to circularly polarized waves then characterized by time-domain spectroscopy. Further, sign circular conversion dichroism, which closely related handedness metasurface, observed be inverted at 0.64 THz varying temperature. Such invertible can applied practically handedness-invertible chiral mirrors.
